People in refugee camps are suffering numerous ailments. Harsh climate, unhealthy living conditions, high stress level have led to depression and a variety of ailments among the refugees. Sponsor-A-Child Program Fund
Program For Refugee Kashmiri Pandit Children

The refugee camps in Jammu and Kashmir house hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits displaced from their homes as a direct result of the Islamic militancy in the valley. This tragedy has resulted in children being denied the opportunities that we take for granted.

Since 1995, the Kashmiri Overseas Association (KOA USA) (registered non-profit tax exempt organization) has implemented the Sponsor-A-Child Program for the age group 5 year olds to 17 year olds. This program aims to provide educational opportunities to the children directly affected by the tragedy. While individuals worldwide have contributed to these programs more children are in need of our financial support than currently available funds can support, there are many more that deserve our assistance. Facts about this volunteer-driven program:

Goal: To provide tuition, school supplies and living expenses to school children who are currently living in refugee camps.

Zero-Overhead Program: 100% of the funds collected are distributed to the selected children through a registered non-profit organization in India. All people managing and coordinating these programs are volunteers.

COST: $200/year or Rs10, 000/-

Your contribution in US $ is tax-deductible. Some members also pay in Rupees in India. Provide your assistance today and help create a better family for tomorrow. There are needy and deserving children who will receive an education with your contribution. Together we can make a difference in the lives of our less fortunate brethren. To join this programs as sponsors or if you need more information, please contact Program Coordinator Mr. Pran Kaul / 510-795-9641 / pkaul@slac.stanford.edu or President of KOA Sanjay Kaul / 781-893-4982 / sanjaykaul@hotmail.com. KOA Book
Tribulations of Kashmiri Pandits

This is a book about the destruction and injustice Kashmiri Pandits have met in the ongoing war in Kashmir, with a historical perspective of their previous crises and their identity. This is the story of Kashmir Problem, as it has come to be called after Pakistan's clandestine attack on Kashmir in 1947.

The book was written because there does not exist a similar book with facts and figures of Kashmir Problem, something the Government of India should have produced.

Kashmiri Culture & Heritage Center, Bangalore
Project of Kashmiri Hindu Samithi, Bangalore
This is the first of its kind in South India and will benefit KP travelers to Bangalore as well as others that live in the city. The Center will be a community hub and provide a place to hold get-togethers, meetings, functions and events. The plan includes construction of a community hall for social interactions, library & museum of immense literary and cultural value, Yoga and medication center, Kashmiri language center, residential accommodation including single rooms for traveling executives and dormitory for students, business center, temple and a community outlet store.

STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE OF BANGALORE: Every year a large number of students, professionals and elderly of our community land in this city, mostly to work and live here. Bangalore has emerged as India??s answer to the Silicon Valley and provides enhanced employment opportunities, quality education as well as medical and engineering infrastructure. Given our community??s profile; the moderate climate, cosmopolitan culture and an accommodating local population have made Bangalore a very livable city for our families.

APPEAL: A Plot measuring 15,000 sq. ft. has already been acquired at a fraction of the market price. The project cost is Rupees one crore and half of the money has already been raised in India. The land is now paid for and construction is already in progress. We had to rush on these steps to avail of the land allocation made to us. However, Rupees fifty lakhs is very urgently required for project completion. COMMUNITY MEMBERS from all across the world are requested to contribute generously for the completion of our heritage center. We appeal to you to provide open hearted financial support. This is an investment for our future. ====================================================== We are from the land of Sharda but now are refugees in our own country. Our culture and identity are in danger of extinction. To establish cultural centers is a step in the direction of preserving our social ethos and culture. Such a cultural and heritage center at Bangalore, India is under construction. We seek your financial support.
