| Kashmiri Pandits Martyr?s Day
As you know, September 14 is observed as Kashmiri Pandits Martyr?s Day. On this day we remember those community members who submitted to death rather than renounce their religion, freedom and honor. No words can express the loss of these community members. They sacrificed their lives and everything for a cause; we have to remind ourselves that we need to carry forward the cause for which they laid their lives.
Few days back, I had proposed to all Zone Directors and Chapter Presidents to organize some community and charity work with active support from members in their zone. Since September 14 falls on a Saturday, you should have no problem devoting some time for charity work. Please get in touch with the KOA office bearer in your zone and contact other members in your zone/Chapter/area, collect some donations for this purpose. I am proposing that KOA will also bear up to $100 per zone for this charity work.
In the memory of our Martyers, here is what we should do:
1. Donate non-perishable food items to local food/soup kitchens or prepare and serve a meal there (feed the homeless) or do some volunteer work at homeless shelters.
2. Donate money or goods at local Hindu temple and perform an Archana in the temple
3. Perform a Hawan at the temple in their memory
We should also observe a one-minute silence and express our sentiments by wearing black clothes or a ribbon on this day. Thank you for your support and cooperation. May God bless our community. With warm regards and best wishes,
